Hey, it’s Jeffrey — back again!

Credit card annual fees keep climbing, with the Sapphire Reserve now costing a steep $795.

At that price, you really don’t want to leave any value on the table.

Sure, the perks can easily outweigh the fee — but only if you actually use them.

And keeping track of every benefit? That’s easier said than done.

Long terms and conditions. Scattered reset dates. Tiny credits that are easy to miss.

It adds up — or doesn’t, if you miss them.

That’s why this week, I asked ChatGPT to do the hard part for me:

List every benefit for my Chase Sapphire Reserve

Sort them by deadline and value

Help me build a tracker in Google Sheets

It took minutes instead of hours — and now I’m way less likely to forget a single perk.

THIS WEEK’S TESTED TOOLS AND STRATEGIES

🧠 Step 1: Ask AI to List Every Benefit on Your Card(s)

I started with the prompt:

List every travel and lifestyle credit of the [Chase Sapphire Reserve], including value, frequency, expiration rules, and usage restrictions. Format as a table.

Customize this step with whichever card(s) you have. I found it a bit easier to do one card at a time.

Here’s how part of the table looked (it’s pretty huge):

I did the same for my AMEX Platinum and now had everything in one place — no more guessing or Googling.

⚠️ Quick note: AI can miss fine print, so it’s always a good idea to double-check key benefits with your card issuer to be safe.

📅 Step 2: Sort by Deadline, Value, and Frequency

I started with the prompt:

Organize these benefits by when they reset (monthly, annually, etc.) and help me prioritize high-value ones I might forget.

This is helpful to me since I’m most concerned with the perks that are “use it or lose it” every month, like Lyft and Doordash.

This list is much easier to understand and scan.

You can even have it highlight:

  • 🔁 Which benefits reset monthly (Uber, DoorDash, Lyft)

  • 🎯 High ROI perks that often go unused

  • 📆 When you last used each benefit (if you track it)

📊 Step 3: Build a Tracker with Google Sheets

I asked ChatGPT:

Create a Google Sheets that lets me track the credit card benefits above by month, usage status, and card.

ChatGPT gave me an Excel file, which I quickly uploaded to Google Sheets.

I added:

  • Checkboxes for used/not used

  • 📆 Monthly columns

  • 🎯 Value column to see values

Now I just scan the sheet once a month and make sure I’m not leaving money behind. To stay on top of it, I set a recurring reminder for the 25th of each month.

🛠️ Other Tools to Check Out

Other tools I came across but didn’t do a deep dive into for this newsletter:

  • MaxRewards – Chrome extension + app that helps unlock hidden perks

  • Monarch Money – Create goals based on perks (e.g., use Uber credit every month)

  • Notion – Search for “credit card rewards tracker” templates (some are excellent!)

🎯What to Do Now

Ask ChatGPT to list your current card benefits
📅 Set a monthly calendar reminder to review and use your card perks
📊 Build a tracker in Sheets or Notion
